Milwaukee residents held a joyous mask-burning rally on June 1 where they tossed face coverings into a fire pit to celebrate the end of the city’s Covid mandates.
The rally was set up in part by former city alderman Bob Donovan, who invited people to come out and enjoy some “freedom beer” Tuesday for the “Burn the masks” event.
Former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke also burned his mask and spoke at the event attended by dozens.
“We know a lot more than we did in the early days of this, and what I learned, this was never about science, this was never about medicine, this was about politics, raw unadulterated politics,” Clarke told the crowd.
On Tuesday, emails from NIAID Director and Covid cheerleader Anthony Fauci revealed he originally advised people against wearing face masks, at one point saying, “The typical mask you buy in the drug store is not really effective in keeping out virus, which is small enough to pass through the material.”
